How HIIT Workouts Can Help You Lose Weight

Q is a high-intensity interval training class (HIIT) designed to torch hundreds of calories in a short period of time. As you may know, the key to losing weight is creating a calorie deficit. This means you should work off more calories than you consume. This is often easier said than done because many ordinary workouts just don’t burn the high number of calories needed to outweigh a normal daily diet. With Q, though, you can burn over 1,000 calories during the session and continue to do so for hours after working out. Let us explain.

So, what do our Q classes entail? They’re a little bit different every day. We offer five different types of classes that rotate daily: Base, Combat, Power, Boost, and QX. Base offers an overall, even combination of cardio and resistance training. Combat includes a station dedicated to kickboxing. Power is designed to build strength and muscle. Boost targets your core in addition to being heavy on the cardio. And QX is inspired by CrossFit to bring out the best of the competition.

In each class, participants will rotate between four stations and complete their workouts in a 30-30 split, meaning 30 seconds of exercise followed by 30 seconds of rest. The Boost class, however, is 90 seconds of exercise followed by 45 seconds of rest. Stations will range from treadmills to row machines, to dumbbells to bodyweight and plyometrics. Each class is 45 minutes long, so Q is a great option for people who want to get in and out quickly.

Now, you may be wondering, how does this help me lose weight? Because the workouts are intense and have short rest periods, you will get your heart rate much higher than you would during a normal weightlifting or jogging session. The intensity of the regimen can burn up to 1,500 calories in one class. Additionally, your metabolism is sped up because of this, allowing you to continue burning calories for up to 36 hours after leaving the gym.
