What Can I Do To Lose Weight?

Start the day with protein

Breakfast is important regardless, but if losing weight is your goal, you should be sure to include plenty of protein in your first meal of the day. Protein helps you feel fuller for longer, leading to less snacking throughout the day. Breakfasts that include eggs, turkey bacon, protein powder, or Greek yogurt will go a long way towards your weight loss goals.

Go with whole grains

If you remember learning about the food pyramid in school, you may recall that grains should make up the majority of your daily diet. It’s important to remember the distinction between refined grains and whole grains. Refined grains are popular but have mostly been stripped of valuable nutrients and fiber. Whole grains are packed with fiber which supports healthy digestion and keeps you full. This, in turn, plays a key role in losing weight.

Move Whenever You Can

You can’t (and shouldn’t) vigorously exercise all day, every day, but you can find ways to stay active all day. Not every exercise has to be a five-mile run. Go for a walk on your lunch break, park farther away at the grocery store, do some living room jumping jacks during commercials. If you maximize your body’s movements in addition to your normal workout routine, you will burn all the more calories. Over time, these little things will add up.

Stay Hydrated

This isn’t the first time we’ve preached hydration. Getting enough water in your body is the most rudimentary task you need to do to stay healthy. Sometimes, you may be confusing your thirst for hunger. Additionally, being well-hydrated betters your digestive system and helps your metabolism. Sip on a water bottle throughout the day and be sure to drink more on days you’re especially active.
