Are There Any Risks When Using a Sauna?

Saunas aren’t risk-free, and it’s important you know what possible risks they might pose. For starters, you should not go from a sauna right to a pool. This drastic change in temperature can raise your blood pressure. Additionally, saunas may cause dehydration, so be sure you have drunk plenty of water before entering the sauna. As a precaution, you should avoid alcohol use before entering the sauna and you should limit your time to 20 minutes in the sauna. Any longer in the sauna’s heat can cause heatstroke, delusions, and exacerbate dehydration.
