You may have heard about high-intensity interval training (HIIT), but if you haven’t experienced a HIIT class, you probably don’t know all of the benefits. With T2 HIIT classes at Xperience Fitness, you will put your body through a rigorous but efficient workout with a small group. Continue reading to get insight about nine benefits of our T2 classes.
1) Efficiency
For many, one of the biggest pain points about going to the gym is how much time it takes to burn the calories you want to shred. Instead of running on a treadmill for an hour, wouldn’t it be nice to burn more calories doing a variety of exercises in just 45 minutes? That’s exactly what T2 is for. In T2, you will go through different stations and do different workouts in short intervals with breaks in between.
2) Learning new workouts
An underrated benefit of HIIT is that it exposes you to different exercises you otherwise may not have known about. If you’re one who usually just likes to bench and run on a treadmill, you may simply just not have the knowledge of other effective workouts. Your T2 class instructor will lay out the plan and show you how to do each workout. You can take that new knowledge home and repeat as desired!
3) It’s fun
We know that for a lot of people, doing the same workouts or running the same route every day can get stale. With T2, however, things are always changing. Not only are you quickly moving to a new station each class, but classes change every time and new exercises are always being introduced.
4) Calories burn faster
When doing high-intensity training with short breaks, you will burn calories at a much faster rate than you would doing your normal regimen. Most people will burn calories at a rate of one every two seconds. HIIT sessions have been shown, for some, to torch up to 1,500 calories per hour.
5) Sense of community
Working out in a group provides you with extra motivation and encouragement. T2 members share a common goal of bettering themselves and beating their own records, and if you’re up for friendly competition, you can go head-to-head with a friend and hold each other accountable.
6) Heightened endorphins
We already know that exercise can raise serotonin levels, but when exercising at a fast pace, endorphins are released more quickly and will have a greater effect on your mood the rest of the day. It can’t be stressed enough; exercise for the body has plenty of benefits for the mind.
7) Higher metabolic rate
After completing HIIT, your body will continue to burn calories for up to 36 hours. This is due to an increased metabolic rate caused by intense exercise. With a higher metabolism, your body can naturally burn more calories at a quicker rate for a longer period of time.
8) Improved oxygen consumption
Endurance training like HIIT allows your muscles to absorb and use more oxygen. Usually, endurance training like jogging is the preferred method for increasing oxygen levels, but studies have shown that HIIT has the same effect.
Why HIIT should be your next workout
9) Enhanced heart health
In a world where heart disease is the leading cause of death, you can’t do enough to protect one of your most vital organs. T2 training classes have been shown to increase the elasticity and flexibility of arteries and veins more so than regular aerobic exercise. This results in less work for your heart and an overall healthier blood-pumping system in your chest.
