Losing 20 pounds is a notable achievement. Losing 50 is outstanding. Losing 100 is extraordinary. But losing 120 pounds?! We’re struggling to find a superlative worthy of that kind of accomplishment. However you want to describe it, it’s a remarkable milestone to meet, and that’s exactly what Alissa did. Immediately after graduating with her master’s degree in 2018, Alissa took advantage of having a bit more free time. She started small by taking the stairs whenever she could and made “one smarter choice a day” with her meals. “As winter came around I knew I needed to find a safe and secure place to exercise, and Xperience Fitness had just opened at Riverdale in Coon Rapids,” she said. “XF, thankfully, has allowed me to stay consistent through all the setbacks which are often because of those Minnesotan winters.”

Any time you set out to lose weight, you’re going to face speed bumps, and that wasn’t different for Alissa. “When my weight loss slowed down, I made sure to take body measurements to remind myself that I was still making progress,” she told us. Progress isn’t always going to be a steady route. You may plateau, and overcoming that is one of the biggest challenges you can face. But by staying committed to the gym and making necessary dietary changes, Alissa has found phenomenal success.

As for advice for those struggling themselves, Alissa says, “Don’t try to change everything at once. Start with small changes. Talk to your doctor or another healthcare professional. Consider hiring a personal trainer. Make sure you pay attention to progress off the scale too.”

We are beyond impressed and inspired by Alissa’s story, and we’re so happy to be a part of it! We can’t wait to see what else she can accomplish! If you’re interested in personal training, click here to learn more.
