Patience is the ultimate virtue when you begin working out. Alex Chosa’s fitness journey started more than eight years ago, but 2021 was when he began to see more and more change. Last year alone, he lost 50 lbs. and transformed into a happier version of himself. There are many reasons why progress may be slow, so it’s hard to pin one down, but what matters is that Alex never stopped and he’s finally seeing his work pay off.

Alex found it hard to deal with cravings and found himself in a pickle. He reached an “unhealthy weight that kept climbing even when I was working out five to six days a week,” he told us. “Many times I wanted to give up but I kept pushing myself so I could achieve my goal of getting back to a healthier weight and more energy.” Having more energy is such an underrated aspect of getting healthier. Let’s face it; most of us are tired most days, aren’t we? Losing unwanted weight and fueling yourself with healthier food will keep you energized for longer.

In addition to losing weight, Alex has done a tremendous job building muscle, which plays a key role in weight loss itself. Muscle tissue tends to burn more calories than fat tissue. This is important to keep in mind if you are trying to lose weight yourself. Cardio is important, but bigger and stronger muscles will help you cut more calories more quickly, so don’t skip the weights!

As for his own advice to those reading, Alex said, “If you start going to the gym, don’t get discouraged after a week or month of little to no progress. It takes time as it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Some days will be better than others but you need to enjoy the journey. Stay active, get enough sleep, and eat healthy foods as often as possible.”

Excellent advice, Alex! Thanks so much for sharing your story. We can’t wait to see what else you accomplish!
